Le Tigre de Papier (The Paper Tiger) is one of those cute restaurants in Siem Reap. On Pub Street to be exact.
One glance will let you know that this is a place with character.
Its yellow and orange décor makes the place look comfy and relaxingl.
Also, both of its sidewalks, one overlooking Pub Street and the other overlooking the alley, are cool and shady throughout the day.
I’ve always wanted to try the restaurant, and this time we went in for an early dinner.
The name itself is French, but it has Cambodian food as well as European dishes. Even so, we went in because of the woodfire oven pizza image displayed at the front.
Kind of strange, to eat pizza in Siem Reap in a French-run restaurant.
There was no cause for complaints though. The service was friendly and fast and the food came out in good time.
We ordered the fungi pizza and it had a thin crust, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and sliced mushrooms. It was really good and the portions were large. We were pleasantly surprised on both of these accounts.
With about 10 slices of pizza, it’s definitely enough for two people to share. We were so full and almost couldn’t finish it, but we did because it was good.
We also tried their pineapple milk shake and it was tasty too. However, I may have made a mistake ordering a pineapple milk shake instead of a plain pineapple shake. I think fruit shakes without the milk makes for a refreshing drink. But to each his own I suppose.
Le Tigre de Papier also offers free internet and free Wi-Fi for those who are eating in.
They have two computers for use, a newer one and an older one. While waiting for the pizza to come, I was able to check my emails and other things. The connection is okay, not too fast, not too slow. It does the job for some quick browsing.
Other then the free internet, they also offer a book exchange. You’ll see the many books lined up on the racks throughout the restaurant.
They also offer a cooking class that benefits a local tourism school.
You’ll get to shop for ingredients at the Old Market nearby and learn how to make food that looks pretty.
So in short…
Le Tigre de Papier is another nice place to wind down. The food is good, the place is comfy, there’s free internet, and if you add a good company what more could you want?
Oh, the price is also reasonable. That large pizza was only $5, and the fruit shake was around $2 or so. So Le Tigre de Papier is one of the restaurants in Siem Reap that is a nice place all around.
