Chamkar - One of the best Cambodian restaurants

This Cambodian restaurant just did everything right, from the decor and table settings to the beautifully presented menu. Our group were all meat eaters, but this place impressed us in a laneway packed with other great restaurants.

We asked our waiter for suggestions and had the most fantastic meal, Wedding Day Dip (the highlight!) stuffed tofu, Cambodian curry and Infinite Medley.

Every dish was flavourful and different, not just a great vegetarian meal, it was the best meal we had on our trip.

We asked if they did cooking lessons and went back a few days later. We got to choose 5 dishes from the menu, so we added Monsoon salad to our list. First we went to the markets, fascinating to have everything explained and to be able to taste and feel so we could work out what various herbs and vegies would be the same back home.

The restaurant kitchen is tiny, so it was just a demo rather than hands on, but the chef was great and explained everything as she went - it all looked so easy!

Haven't had a chance since we returned to try out our skills, but will definately be giving it a go soon.

All in all 10 out of 10!!
