About Me
My name is Rahmi, and I love traveling.
In fact, I'm obsessed with it. I think it all started when I was around 12. At that time, my parents (bless them) took me to other South East Asian countries, and I totally loved it! I'm Indonesian, by the way. Unfortunately, back then I was too young to actually appreciate the sights, and I can only remember them vaguely. But I do remember that I was utterly fascinated when we looked at so many golden Buddha statues in Thailand, or when we went to Hong Kong's street market, where everyone and everything was so busy (Yes, everything. Those ducks were busy getting hanged). I thought, "What an interesting life that people lead at this part of the world!" Since then I've considered myself very fortunate to have visited a few other places. Through it all, the fascination never left me. In fact, they only grew and grew. "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." Mark Twain
So How Did This Website Come About? This website is inspired by my recent visit to Cambodia. And from what I gathered and experienced, Cambodia is an AMAZING place. I think everyone should visit this place. ...But... Despite the amazing-ness of it all, I noted something "funny". There were numerous visitors to Angkor Wat, and still I saw very little of them in some of the fantastic places that I visited (and my visit was during the high season!). How could that be? How was it even possible? Beng Melea or Kampung Phluk is just as Cambodian as Angkor Wat, and as worth visiting. In fact, for some adventurous people, a visit to Beng Melea could be much more memorable than a visit to Angkor Wat. And thus began a new project . If people are not aware of these great places, then I hope this website will provide more information about other Cambodia’s best. Although I know we all want some of the magnificent sites to remain hidden from the public view forever (so that we can have them all to ourselves, of course!), some sites are just too good to remain 'hidden'. For those of you who have already visited Beng Melea, can you imagine the possibility of leaving Cambodia without ever seeing it? The thought alone made you shrink in fear, burst out in outrage, and cried out in alarm, right? I had such an incredible time when I was in Cambodia, and I wish other people would too. There were so many things to do, so many unique sites to see, so many adventures to be had. So that is what this site is for. To give you new ideas about your trip, and help you discover a little bit more about Angkor so that you can get the most out of your visit. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here, and if you have any questions or comments about anything, please drop me a line. I would love to hear from you. Thanks for visiting my site!
